Well, we haven't been super about posting on this blog. I think it's difficult because we do so much...or not enough? ha. We keep buys, but we don't have a camera around to document it lately. Yes, Penny still has a camera, but ya...no excuse. Soon we will post our beautiful faces, in the meantime, you get words.

We have both been busy with work but aside from work we have been really soaking in time with our dear friends. It seems that we have been blessed with quality people in our lives and we are just really thankful for the time we spend with them. Lately, we've all been gushing over the newest addition Ben and of course his sister Nat still gets her fare share of attention.
We are getting excited for the holidays and even more excited to spend time with our families, still getting all the details worked out, but soon we will have a "master plan". We're thinking whatever happens it will be a great wintery road trip for us.

Lately, we have both been getting into a musical mood more times than not. If you know either of us, this might not be a surprise. But for Penny, it's been a while since she has really wanted to play music, because she was a bit burnt out- but friends the passion is back and the Burns' are makin music. Let's say we are in the middle of something good and whoever reads this (I think our mom's , dad's and Tara!) will all benefit from the fruits of our labor eventually!

I suppose we should cut the words short and get a move on. It's our first Saturday with Penny not working in a long time so we're going to have some fun and have friends over tonight for dinner, Kyle is cooking- yay for thai lettuce wraps...mmmm.

Today Penny and her family welcomed home her brother, David, from Iraq. Unfortunately, we were not able to make it to South Dakota.

Yesterday our good friends Jake and Amy, along with their two year old Nat, welcomed their baby boy to the world.
Kyle and I went to the hospital to visit the new Peterson family and I of course had to take a few photos.

Kyle confessed to me as we walked out of our apartment that he was very afraid of holding babies, well he conquered.

I forgot to mention that Amy is a super hero, she looked and felt amazing. She pretty much rocks the birthing process.

Jake and Amy were pretty excited about Ben's (not Benji) extra chin.

Natalie was all over the place and pretty resistant to most things. She was excited about her new brother, but less excited about the lack of attention she was getting I think ;).

Road trips are fun and Kyle and I often find ourselves taking them. This past weekend we traveled down and over to Cedar Rapids IA (kyle's home) with our dear friends Drew and Kelly (drewandkellyz.com) for a fun filled weekend.
Kyle's parents Tom and Tammy threw a reception in honor of our wedding for all those who couldn't make it to the actual wedding in June. It was great to see everyone and celebrate our marriage.

My mom and sister also made the trip to CR to celebrate, while there I took a few photos of them. My mom, Sharon mentioned she doesn't have many photos of her and my sister Annie so we took some. Below is my favorite.

Annie my buff sister showed us all her muscles and took 4 of down with her mad arm wrestling skills. She's a crazy strong almost 11 year old!

We are still alive. It's busy as always.
For those of you who haven't heard, Penny is taking the semester off from school- and will begin the end in January with graduation in May. In the meantime, she is working full time at Milestones Photography (insert excited noise here).
A couple of weeks ago, Penny went to work and was surprised with business cards sitting near her workspace (insert another excited noise here).
So folks, it's official. yes......Penny loves her job.

Jake and Amy are good friends of ours, they have little (almost 2) Natalie and baby "thormann" on the way in September. They are super fun folks and love each other greatly. I had so much fun in the studio with them last night. So glad they volunteered their time, so I could practice in the studio.

On a bicycle built for 4?

This past weekend Kyle and Drew decided to have a surprise for Kelly and myself. It was very sweet of them to be thinking of us.
Kelly handled the surprise really well, as for myself, I handled it like a 4 year old....with lots of questions.

Turns out we were taken to Lindenwood Park for a bicycle ride. Not just any bike, but a bike built for four and two toddlers (note: no toddlers were present).
I'm sure we looked like goons, but we had a great time....and we made it up the hill!

Last night Kyle and myself got to spend some time with our good friends Joy and Nathaniel.
Joy and myself have been lacking in the photo (together) department for a while now, so I of course took it upon myself to bring my camera to our little adventure.

Emergency Room Visit

Every Thursday night Kyle plays softball with some guys from our church.
This Thursday night he got a ball to the eye. It was a frightening experience for both of us, for me seeing my husband fall to the ground moaning and rocking back and forth and for him not knowing if he would be able to play next week :)!
The ambulance was called, but the EMT told us he didn't think he needed a ride in it (thank the Lord) but he should still get checked out for head injuries, bleeding and eye injuries.

So we headed to the Emergency Room and were lucky enough to wait for 3.5 hours to see a doctor.
While in the ER we sat by a few people with some crazy stories and the later it got the crazier the stories.
After check ups, katscans and lots of ice packs; we found out Kyle had broken his sinus, shouldn't blow his nose or drive and would have a really colorful face for a week or so. The doc told us in a giddy voice he was happy and "his eyebrow did it's job and protected the eye." It was good news to us as the injury could have been a lot worse being so close to his skull and eye.

Living the luxurious life

Last weekend we took yet another road trip, this time to luxurious Minnesota.

Friday we went straight to Mary and Soren's wedding rehearsal. Mary was Penny's prayer partner while they both ventured out into the world during their time with Youth Encounter. Mary went to Denmark and Penny Africa. While Mary was on team she fell in love with her teammate and Danish gentleman, Soren Madsen. Penny was asked to sing in their wedding and that made us lucky enough to see them married and it was beautiful. They incorporated many American and Danish traditions into their reception. For example: When either the bride or groom leaves the room (ie: to use the bathroom) all of the men or woman, depending on who leaves, gets up and kisses said bride or groom on the cheek. Another, when everyone beats their feet on the ground (opposed to clinking glasses) the bride and groom must go under the table and kiss.
We had a blast at the Madsen wedding meeting up with old friends (Kriby and Nick, Josh, Tara and Dan) and hope for a life of the Lord's love, not to mention each other's.

While in town for the wedding we also had the great privilege to meet up with our good friends Tara and Dan Schmidt, they were kind enough to pull out their futon for us for the entire weekend ( and we would love to return the favor anytime)! They also threw Kyle a batman themed birthday party (we are all big kids) on Friday because it was his birthday!
After we ate cake, we saw the midnight showing of the Dark Night. I am surprised Kyle has feeling in his arm after I clung to it all night!
The Schmidt's also treated us to John Piper, a Twins Game and ice cream on Sunday! waa hoo.

back in action

It's been a while since our last blog- but life gets busy and for us that is certainly true.
July has been an exciting and intense month with road trips, weddings, birthdays, emergency rooms, family and more!

July 11th we made a trip to Kansas City, Kansas for Emily and Kyle Nelson's wedding. Kyle (Burns) and myself were the photographers for the wedding.
It was a hot, humid and beautiful day. On the way back we stopped at the Omaha Zoo because Kyle had never been.

Onward up I-29... We made an overnight stay at Penny's old stopping grounds- one last summer visit to see Stephen ( penny's step brother from Tacoma, WA)
before he left for home. While visiting Kyle taught Annie (penny's sister) how to pitch,
she had a great time and was pretty stinking good at it!

Introducing Drew and Kelly!

Drew and Kelly are our dear friends we love. We are so blessed to have them as friends as they walk with us and teach us about the greatness of being united in Christ.
They both came along to the studio last night so I could practice and all could share in the fun!

Drew and Kyle are on a softball team and they play every Thursday night. I thought it would be fun to take a few photos of them right after their game. Turns out last night was the night to get beat up, Drew hurt his leg, Kyle got nailed by a softball that hit him at the chest and he twisted his ankle. The two of the men were a little bit sore, but always in high spirits!

Last but not least, with all this studio learning, I have been told it's even more challenging to try and take a self-portrait. Well today I gave it a try and turns out- it definately is more of a challenge. I am far from reaching my goal and still learning tons, but here is one result from today.

Introducing Brucey....
The best Bruce Springsteen cover band in North Dakota. Kyle and his friends, Drew, Jake and Josh all had their premiere performance today and let's just say it was awesome. They had a blast and so did everyone watching.

The Celtics won and Kyle was excited to see it happen. I never thought I would marry someone who loves to watch (and play) sports like Kyle does. It's pretty hard for me to get into watching t.v.- let alone sit and watch a 2 hour game of basketball. With that said, some might be surprised I actually sat and watched an entire (well almost) game of the NBA playoffs the other night (I think Kyle was the most proud).Tonight I edited a few photos from a wedding I shot a few weeks ago and took some photos of things around our apartment for you all to see.

We Did It!

June 7th, 2008- Kyle Burns and Penny Kelley got married.

This little blog is for our family and friends who want to keep up
with our lives and (possibly) see pictures of what is going on.

We've returned from our honeymoon and are now in good ol' Farg!
We went to Duluth Minnesota for our honeymoon. We rented a villa from Mountain Villas on Spirit Mountain, it was a lovely little villa and the location was awesome. We got to relax and take in the fact that we are actually married- it has been a wonderful couple of weeks.
